How to be a Successful Blogger?
Sunday, July 17
Are you self-confident? As a blogger we all need to develop this very skill or the least already have it when you started a blog. Being a blogger for more than 6 years has taught me that we all need to be unique and different. By that I mean we need to embrace that unique self of ours. Being in a vast world of bloggers in the blog-osphere can be taunting especially if you are only starting.
The question still remains, how do I become a successful blogger? What will set my blog apart from the rest of the blogs? Is it the pictures that I am taking? Maybe. Is it the frequency of my posts? Maybe. My Popularity on social media? Maybe. I mean there are a lot of doubts and questions that really bother me when I started blogging.
When I started blogging around 2009, I only blogged to rant. I blogged to document my joys. I blogged because I want to share something out of my personal experiences.
Being a blogger requires hard work, persistence to push ourselves, and believing in ourselves no matter what. Whether no one cares to read our post to whether I feel like sharing this story or not.
The key to successful blogging are these things (for me) :
SELF - CONFIDENCE. Yes! Believe in yourself. For me, blogging is an art. And Creativity takes courage. Develop that skill and continue to believe that you can do it. You can be a successful blogger.
CONSISTENCY. Post as much as frequently as possible. Readers will read blogs which are always updated. That is what keeps them coming. You can start by making blog series. I got this idea from other bloggers too. And really that is quite effective. The key here is to find blog series topics which are engaging and somewhat intriguing so you readers will keep on coming and provide that sense of excitement to come back.
PERSISTENCE. When I was starting out, I had zero followers. No one reads my post and my lay-out was bad. The key to this is to be persistent in visiting other bloggers webpages, giving sincere comments after reading their blog posts and putting your blog link. Asking for a follow was not bad as long as you maintain a healthy relationship with your blogger friends. This way your following will grow eventually and people will visit and read your blog. The tools I used before was the Google Friend Connect since they automatically adds our blog feeds to the person's blogger dashboard. That way fellow bloggers are updated of our posts. And may actually catch their attention to read our posts. Simple as that.
FINDING WAYS TO IMPROVE. Never settle. Always find ways to improve. Seek help from the internet on how to improve. Before my blog lay-out was very bad and I had no idea about HTML and editing my blog skins. Through the years, I have developed that skill. And i loved changing my layouts on my own. The key to blog layouts though is not to overdo it. Use only widgets which you think are useful and helpful for your blog. A mistake I have learnt over years in blogging.
CONNECT WITH OTHER BLOGGERS. As I have already mentioned, blogging would be boring if you blog alone. You need a community where you can grow. Start by joining or continue building a community of like minded bloggers. One is joining facebook groups and posting or sharing relevant blog posts or even your own blog posts.
SHARING USEFUL INFORMATION. Sharing is caring as everyone says. So share your content. Remember to share only information that will somehow be relevant to your readers. Share. Share. and Share. Timing is also relevant especially with the social media platforms nowadays. Schedule sharing optimally to make sure you catch the right individuals at the same time.
HONESTY. As much as possible be honest. You can never go wrong with this. Build an online reputation where your readers, advertisers and the like will trust.
TAKE GOOD PICTURES. And last but not the least take good pictures. Make an effort to provide your readers the visual learning as they say. Reading long blog posts can be boring so use engaging and great photos with your posts and your blog will go a long way!
Hope you learned some helpful tips as you go along with your blog. Blog about the things you love and love what you do and the rest will come along. Good Luck!

Mommy Talks: Pregnancy Tips
Sunday, December 28
Hi Mommsies!
Welcome back. I hope you had a great vacation with your families.
Today, Adi has been really behaved and more of a grown up boy already. He has been showing signs of independence and wants to do things on his own. He has grown a lot. I'm happy and grateful for yet another year coming our way. Having a child is exciting and to me it is but a blessing.
Having a child is never a joke. And being a mom is never an easy task. I keep on saying that cause it has been 2 years and the times got more and more hectic nowadays. Planning for your family is the best way to outdo it.
Having baby number 2 is well part of it. But both hubby and I decided to have another addition hopefully by the time that we already wed in front of the Altar. Church wedding is on top of our list after we were civilly wed last July.
If you are in your baby planning phase now and wanted some help, well here is the answer to pregnancy woes.
Some couples who are in their trying to conceive journey may have a hard time getting pregnant. Some of them just don’t know where to start. Pregnancytips.org has a few steps you can do in order to boost your chances of conceiving.
1. Track your ovulation. For women, it’s very important to get to know your body. Ovulation is a small window of opportunity that you have where you are most fertile, that could last for about 2-4 days only. You may want to be able to make sure the sperm is able to catch the egg on that short window of opportunity to boost your chances. You can use an ovulation predictor kit, a basal body thermometer or an online ovulation calculator to help you pinpoint your ovulation days.
2. Protect your sperm. For men, it’s important to keep your sperms healthy by making sure you avoid the sperm killers such as Jacuzzis, saunas and hot tubs as well as using laptops on your lap for a long time.
3. Stay healthy. Make sure you and your partner get rid of the bad habits like junk foods, smoking and alcohol. Make sure to have fruits and vegetables in your diet, they play an important role in boosting your fertility.
You might want to check out their site for more info and tips including Pregnancy Symptoms, Baby and Toddler Care and much more. They also have tools such as Pregnancy Calculator, Due Date Calculator and Ovulation Calculator to help you track your journey.
Isn't that a breeze?

How to Invest Your Time Wisely ( a Repost )
Tuesday, November 11
“If only I had more time!” How often have you said that? In a sense, time is a universal leveler, because the powerful and rich have no more of it than do the lowly and poor. Furthermore, neither the rich nor the poor can accumulate time. Once it is gone, it is gone forever. The course of wisdom, then, is to make good use of the time we have. How? Consider four strategies that have helped many people to invest their time wisely.
Late Post: Life Lessons from the Teleserye The Legal Wife (a repost)
Friday, November 7
1. Trust your woman’s instincts.Monica had long been suspecting Adrian of being unfaithful to her, but she chose to trust him and became the last one to know about Adrian’s extra-marital affair.Any wife should trust her husband before she doubts him, but it’s a good thing to remember that a woman’s instinct is oftentimes a great built-in alarm system.2. Being a mother doesn’t stop, even when a marriage crumbles.Monica could have gone to pieces after knowing that the two most important people in her life—her husband and her best friend—betrayed her. But Monica shows us that even if she’s struggling with so much pain, she stayed strong and continued with her life. Uppermost in her mind is her son who needs her and is dependent on her.3. Even if a man fails as a husband, do not take his children away from him, especially if he has been a good father.Monica did not communicate with Adrian for two years. During those years, Adrian didn’t have communication with Bunjoy and their baby Martina. When Monica and the kids came back to the Philippines, Adrian had a hard time bonding with Bunjoy and his daughter. To them, their daddy had become a stranger. The Legal Wife, in a roundabout way, teaches us that no matter the differences between a husband and a wife, the children should not be taken away from their parents. When they went to America, Monica could have allowed Adrian to maintain communication with his kids.4. Distance does not always mean “escape.”Monica leaves for the US because she knows that staying in the Philippines, where she is near Nicole and Adrian will affect her sanity. Putting as much physical distance between her and Adrian also makes her emotionally stronger and help her heal and pick up the pieces of her life. She said, “Kailangan kong lumayo, para maging malakas.”5. Forgiveness is a balm that fixes a broken family. Before Monica tells Adrian that she will have their marriage annulled, she forgives him first.Forgiveness is a balm that fixes broken relationships and puts a family back together. If forgiveness creates something beautiful out of something ugly, doesn’t Adrian deserve another chance from Monica? Will Monica find it in her heart to forgive the man she still loves and who loves her back?6. Avoid falling in love with a man who is romantically linked to your best friend. When Nicole fell in love with Adrian, she forgot about her friendship with Monica. Her concern has become how to get Adrian for herself. At some point, she stopped caring how her love for Adrian is affecting her best friend’s family and marriage and how it is ruining their long time friendship. It is a lesson that a best friend should avoid. In this situation, place your friendship above any guy.7. The greatest revenge is a successful life.Monica comes back after two years more beautiful and more established in her career. Her independence and the positive changes in her life make a stronger statement than if she sought negative ways of getting revenge on her husband and her best friend.8. Be a best friend that speaks the truth, like Rowena. From day one, Rowena (Nicole’s best friend) never made Nicole believe that she has any reason to fight for Adrian and their relationship. She tells her upfront that she is only the “mistress, number two, andquerida” of Adrian. This teaches us never to lie to our best friends if ever they are erring in their ways. The truth will hurt them big time but it is the only way to “set them free.”9. There’s more to the mistress than just being the other woman. In The Legal Wife, Nicole is not just a cardboard character. We get to know her as someone who has never felt truly loved. Her father was close to Monica and not her. When she loved Max, Max loved another woman. In Adrian, ironically, even though Adrian has a wife and loves Monica, Nicole feels whole and loved. And once more, she clings to a man who is never truly hers.

My God Speaks to Me: Why I should read the Bible
Thursday, October 23
Mommies!
This is my new series here in Yo Momma. God Speaks to me.
I have been living on Earth for already 28 years to be exact, and I am raised by Catholic Parents.
Being in Cebu my whole life has been a blessing, I would like to call it.
Cebuanos are very religious people.
We go to church on Sundays, and celebrate fiestas of our Patron Saints. Evident in those is the Sinulog,
the grandest festival in the Philippines.
Being a Cebuano always reflects being a good Christian , following Christ teachings and being able to show it to others. Being able to share it with the rest of the world.
As a working mom, I often feel the need to hear God's words. I feel the need to reflect and heed his purpose for me. I am not a perfect person. If I tell you all the mistakes I have committed, It would sure take up most of your time reading and perhaps doing it on another blog.
Has God spoken to you today? Tell me your thoughts.

When we seek to enjoy communion with the Lord — and not to be led astray by the ambiguities of religious experience — we read the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation, God’s words and God’s deeds reveal God himself for our knowledge and our enjoyment. Of course, it is possible to read the Bible without enjoying communion with God. We must seek to understand the Bible’s meaning, and we must pause to contemplate what we understand and, by the Spirit, to feel and express the appropriate response of the heart.God communicates with us in many ways through the Bible and seeks the response of our communion with him.
- If God indicts us (2 Cor. 7:8–10), we respond to him with sorrow and repentance.
- If he commends us (Ps. 18:19–20), we respond to him with humble gratitude and joy.
- If he commands us to do something (Matt. 28:19–20), we look to him for strength and resolve to obey with his help.
- If he makes a promise (Heb. 13:5–6), we marvel at his grace and trust him to do what he says.
- If he warns us of some danger (Luke 21:34), we take him seriously and watch with a thankful sense of his presence and protection.
- If he describes something about himself (Isa. 46:9–11), his Son (Mark 1:11), or his Holy Spirit (John 16:13–14), we affirm it and admire it and pray for clearer eyes to see and enjoy his greatness and beauty.2
Reading the Bible from cover to cover in 2013 is a noble goal. And it’s a goal that positions us well to commune with God. Keep communion as your aim, and remember the words of Scripture are there for us to know God’s heart, to commune with the Living Christ, and to respond appropriately to his beauty and to his voice.
Bible reading is meant to deepen our personal relationship with Christ. - http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/why-we-read-the-bible

[Sexy Me] Body Combat at Gold's Gym Cebu
Friday, August 15
Hi Mommsies!
You might wonder why there is this thing going on in my blog.
Well, i have signed myself up into this deal with myself that I'll go on and hopefully become a member of the hot mommas out there. just kidding!
Actually, I have started this blog series to motivate myself, to lose all the weight gained after pregnancy with Adi.
If you have been reading my blog, you would know that I delivered via C-section. yes, I went through all the misery and pain. It's like having an LBM/diarrhea/dysmenorrhea type of thing that you think it's not gonna end.
If you are a mom. You will know. Relate? I went through labor for 13 long hours!
But so much of that, now I have moved on.. my scars are still there and the big flab is still hanging on for it's dear life. I tend to lose my self-confidence thinking that I am not good at it. That other moms have long moved and lost those flabs. That they are all again sexy, like nothing ever happened? You know how that feels?
So, this post is all about a promise-to-self-motivating-reason-to-blog post.
Hope you get some ample time to go along with me in this journey.
Let me know if you're also a mom who delivered thru C-section and will maybe share some info in here on my blog. =)
Gold's Gym is one of the renowned gyms I have personally known. Yeah, I don't mean to sound really well-versed with working out. This is my first time to even enroll or be a member. But yeah, I'd like to call it lucky when I bought the metro deal voucher for only 1.4k plus instead of 4k for a month membership.
One of the group exercise classes they offered is the famous BODY COMBAT, unlike ZUMBA it is more of intense workout. More cardio of some sorts. and toning more of the muscles.
That's all for now, I failed to take some shots of the threadmill and the octane chuva machine where I did some cardio workout too. But i promise to do a shot next time.
My Progress:
Previous Weight: 138 lbs
Current Weight: 134 lbs
Weight Loss: 4 lbs.
Thanks for reading.. Till my next post!
=)

15 things I should give up on
Wednesday, May 7
Because parenthood and being a momma has been very CHALLENGING for me lately...
Stumbling onto this post by CAROL TUTTLE , has taught me a lot about ways and means to overcome this emotions that I am having. about why being a mom to Adi has been hard and that sometimes, i feel like I don't do things the right way.
Here is her list:
Stumbling onto this post by CAROL TUTTLE , has taught me a lot about ways and means to overcome this emotions that I am having. about why being a mom to Adi has been hard and that sometimes, i feel like I don't do things the right way.
Here is her list:
Consider which of these 15 items keeps you from happy parenting. Let them go. Allow yourself to be a happy parent for your child—and yourself!
1. Give up “supposed to”
We were conditioned by our own early family experiences to believe that parenthood or childhood are supposed to look a certain way. But if you hold onto the way things are “supposed” to be, you may miss enjoying how they actually are. Be willing to question what you prioritize as a parent and why.
2. Give up on keeping score
What does your mental score-card keep track of… Which parent does more? Who’s most consistent? Which mom contributes most in your child’s class? Who’s most involved in your homeschool group?
Keeping score wastes energy. Just do what you feel inspired and able to do. Don’t feel obligated by others’ contributions. Don’t obligate them to live up to yours.
3. Give up force
As a parent you have a responsibility to set boundaries. But if a child consistently resists a certain boundary, don’t just force them to comply. Ask yourself and your child, “Why?”
Think of yourself as your child’s trusted and effective guide, not their dictator. When they experience you this way, they’re more likely to listen, which means less struggle and frustration for both of you.
4. Give up yelling
If you’re not a yeller, this one isn’t for you. But if you tend to yell when upset, consider this question: Has yelling strengthened your relationship with your child?
Yelling usually happens in anger and it often frightens and intimidates children. It destroys trust and a child’s feeling of safety. Pay attention to times and circumstances when you yell and then commit to changing those scenarios in the future.
5. Give up your need to look perfect
No such thing as a perfect parent. Embrace your imperfections. Laugh at yourself. The best parents are willing to always learn, change and improve.
6. Give up worry
Compulsive worrying doesn’t make your child any safer. It doesn’t make you any happier. And it teaches your children to live in fear. Release your worries and cultivate gratitude for your child’s safety in the present moment.
7. Give up one-size-fits-all rules
Every child is unique. What works for one won’t always work for another. Certain standard rules apply across the board (for example, everyone needs to speak respectfully). But consider the possibility that being a fair parent doesn’t mean doing the exact same thing in the exact same way for every child.
8. Give up the food fight
If you demand a certain number of bites from your children, you set yourself up for struggle at the table—and you set your children up for struggles with food later in life.
Guide, direct, encourage, and prepare healthy food. Let your child voice their preferences. Focus on healthy overall patterns, rather than forcing a certain regimen at a specific meal.
9. Give up your role as events coordinator
If you feel like parenthood is a treadmill you can’t keep up with, you may be taking too much responsibility for your children’s time. Make plans that are supportive to your children’s development, but don’t map out every minute for them.
Downtime is supportive to many children. Moments of boredom allow children to take responsibility for their own time. Make resources available and then let your children create the experience they want. You’ll all be happier.
10. Give up unhealthy self-sacrifice
As a parent, you generously give love, time, and attention. But you shouldn’t give up your core self just because you’re a parent. When you ignore your basic needs, you teach your children that when they grow up, they shouldn’t take care of themselves.
11. Give up guilt
Parents sometimes fall into the self-sacrifice trap because they feel unnecessary guilt. Guilt can be useful if you use it to recognize where you need to make changes. But overwhelming, paralyzing guilt that makes you feel worthless as a person or parent doesn’t accomplish anything. You are enough, just as you are.
12. Give up one-sided decisions
As the parent, you often have the final say. But you and your child will both be happier if it’s not the only say. When age-appropriate, involve your child in decisions that will affect them. By showing children the decision-making process, you’ll empower them to make their own good decisions in the future.
13. Give up negative messages
So many messages are repeated to children: you’re too loud, you’re too quiet, you ask too many questions, you’re exhausting, you’re demanding, you’re too talkative, you should make more friends, quit moving, speak up, settle down, smile more.
You can comment on the exact same behavior in a positive way. For example, you can see the trait of, “You’re too talkative,” as “You really make friends easily.”
14. Give up your own childhood story
What did you experience that you most want your children to avoid? Being teased at school? Lack of money? Feeling not-enough? Your fears may actually set up that same pattern to be re-created. Don’t trap your children now in your fears of the past. Let them go. Create what you want, not what you don’t want.
15. Give up on giving up
I’ve heard from parents who worry that they’ve damaged their child, or that they’ve made a mistake that will last a lifetime. I’ve said this many times:
It’s never too late to be a better parent.
Whether your children are 4 or 40, they respond to genuine love from their parents. The effects of mistakes may take a little longer to overcome if your child is older, but it’s never impossible to show up as the happy, supportive parent that you are meant to be. Don’t give up! You have everything you need to be a good parent.
Ok, deep breath.
It’s time to let go of whatever keeps you stuck and let the happiness in!
The Child Whisperer empowers parents and children so the whole family is happier and experiences more cooperation. If you haven’t yet read the book yet, get your copy here.
REPOST: TIPS for a Healthier Working Pregnancy
Tuesday, July 17
This is a Repost taken from
an online site which I personally used as guide throughout my entire pregnancy.
Read on!
There are things you can do to make your working life easier. Few
ideas to make a perfect blend of career
and pregnancy include:
# 1 Don't be a superwoman!
Get rest when you are not at work and reduce household chores, especially when approaching the delivery date. Studies show that one and a half hour of extra rest makes a lot of difference; uterine blood flow increases, and the supply of oxygen and other nutrients to your baby improves.
# 2 Relax when possible
If at all possible, lie down on your left side for ten minutes during your lunch break on a floor mat. Else, just rest your head on the table or elevate your feet. Relax your mind and body.
# 3 When exhaustion overtakes you, leave work early
If you are commuting to work using public transportation, don't be afraid to ask for assistance with regards to a seat, if necessary, from the conductor or driver.

# 4 Negotiate a flexible work schedule
Work out a schedule that suits your health. If you suffer from morning sickness, ask about coming in later and ending your workday later. On the other hand if you are an early riser and get tired easily in the afternoon, ask to come in early and end your workday early.
# 5 Telecommute whenever possible
Try and work out such that you can group assignments and attend office 2-3 times a week. The balance days of the week when your presence at the office is not necessary, you can work from home. Another alternative is to work part of the day at the office and part of the day from home but ascertain you are always open for office contact.
# 6 Ask for help
If a project or assignment is causing your health to suffer, speak up to your boss about getting the help of a coworker or even a temp worker to fill in for you. If need be, request the project be reassigned to someone else and take a less stressful assignment.
# 7 Snack - time
To maintain energy levels and to avoid nausea & heartburn (common ailments of pregnancy), stock up a selection of snacks to work and eat something every few hours.

# 8 Pregnancy emergency kit
Keep the kit in your desk drawer. It should contain lemon hard candies to beat nausea, an extra pair of undies or sanitary napkin for incontinence accidents, an Evian face mister for instant cool-offs, and a cache of crackers, pretzels, wafer cookies for snacking.
# 9 Write notes
Maintaining a notebook at all times can offset memory loss in the first trimester. Note down important work reminders. Jot down anything you consider important for you to remember or act on.
# 10 Heroine you are not!
If possible, start your maternity leave a week or 2 prior to your due date to give yourself ample time to rest before the big day.
The Final Word
You will probably decide on discontinuing work either on your doctor's advice or exhaustion. There are certain guidelines you should follow to minimize health complications that can worsen if you are working.
• If your job is more rigorous in nature entailing heavy lifting, climbing or bending below the waist you should stop work by week 20. But if you have moderate load to tackle with rest periods in between, you can continue working till about week 28. However you should consider giving up your job after conception if you are carrying more than one baby, had a previous miscarriage, or premature birth. Cut back on your work hours if you have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes or high blood pressure. Bottom-line: listen to your doctor's advice on when to quit your job, how many hours you can afford to put in and the nature of job you can continue with. Don't ignore your doctor's recommendations, no matter what your financial status.
• If your job requires you to be on your feet all day, you should consider switching to desk job or stopping work beginning in your 24th week. If your job requires you to spend more than 30 minutes out of every hour on your feet, consider shifting to something sedentary by week 32.
Returning to work after baby:
Much of this depends on how you feel and the health of your baby. If all is well then returning to work is a personal choice. Whether you decide to take 3 whole months, less or more, some workday precautions apply as when you were pregnant.
• Avoid fatigue by taking short naps.
• Try to arrange to work from home sometimes.
• Go back part time rather full time until your body readjusts to your previous schedule.
• Push for a flexible work routine in order to accommodate to your baby's needs.
Above all, don't be afraid to enlist your husband's help with household and baby chores. Make certain to visit your doctor for a complete checkup before returning work. Take time out if despite your leave you still feel you need a break.
